Sainsbury’s David Wheeler joins the GroceryAid Trustee Board as Treasurer.
GroceryAid is pleased to announce that David Wheeler, Head of Finance, Logistics at J Sainsbury plc, has been appointed by its Board of Trustees with immediate effect to the position of GroceryAid Treasurer. In addition, David was appointed as a Trustee of GroceryAid and Chair of the Finance Committee.
David began his career at PwC before moving to Home Retail Group as Head of Group Commercial and Financial Accounting. Following completion of the acquisition of Home Retail Group by J Sainsbury plc, David supported the new management team with the initial integration of the two businesses. David subsequently moved into Sainsbury’s commerce finance leadership team to take on his current role of Head of Finance for the Logistics division.
As Treasurer of GroceryAid and Chair of the GroceryAid Finance Committee, David will oversee the charity’s finances and report back to the Trustee Board throughout the year.
Commenting on his new role, David said “GroceryAid plays such an important part in the welfare of so many grocery colleagues and I am delighted to be joining the charity. I look forward to being able to contribute to sustaining the charity’s growth at a time of great challenge for the industry.”
