Lord Zameer Choudrey CBE SI Pk, Chief Executive of Bestway Group, and Dawood Pervez, Managing Director of Bestway Wholesale, presented a cheque for £100,000 to the UK’s largest children’s charity, Barnardo’s, at Bestway Group’s Head Office in Park Royal, London. The funds were raised through Bestway Wholesale’s annual Ascot Charity Race Day held last year, attended by over 800 industry guests including key business influencers, wholesale supplier partners, colleagues, press and Barnardo’s. The Charity Race Day is one of Bestway Wholesale’s largest corporate events in the calendar, supported by supplier partners for over 29 years.

South West SPAR wholesaler, Appleby Westward, has raised over £30,000 for end-of-life charity, Marie Curie. Over the past year, the Cornwall-based company has held multiple fundraising events at its head office and has encouraged its company-owned and independently owned SPAR stores to do the same. Many of Appleby Westward’s South West stores have got involved in fundraising by holding cake sales, raffles and competitions.

The South East’s leading independent foodservice wholesaler, Q Catering, has been awarded a sizeable sole supply agreement with school meal provider Independent Catering Management (ICM). After 15 years of sharing the business with Brakes, Q Catering is proud to announce they have been awarded a sole supply agreement for frozen and chilled products. In a Focus on Foodservice interview, Steve Clarke, Managing Director at Q Catering, tells Wholesale Manager how the new deal will benefit both parties.

A Nisa forecourt has launched in Mirfield on the site of an old pub, offering a variety of different services. Salim Patel, the store owner, opened The Swan forecourt in Mirfield (West Yorkshire) on 25 April. Soft drinks has delivered the greatest absolute value growth of any product category in 2022, according to Britvic’s Soft Drinks Review 2023, which is now worth a staggering £2.8bn to the convenience channel. Britvic’s annual review has also unearthed huge growth potential for the sector, equating to £8,400 for each of the nearly 48,000 convenience stores operating in the UK today, our special report reveals.
