Lantmännen Unibake has increased its share in British company Bakehouse from 25% to 63.25 % and is now the majority shareholder. With the purchase, Lantmännen Unibake strengthens its position in the UK, which is now the company’s largest market.
Lantmännen Unibake, one of Europe’s leading suppliers of frozen bread products, today announced that it has increased its share in the UK’s leading supplier of sweet and savoury pastries and speciality breads from 25% to 63.25% for an undisclosed amount. The purchase continues Lantmännen Unibake’s massive investments in the British market with the second major investment in the UK within the past 12 months.
In May 2008, Lantmännen Unibake acquired British bakery Eurobuns, which gave Lantmännen Unibake production capability in the UK for the first time, and opened the door to the frozen bread market in the UK. Now, the agreement with Bakehouse secures Lantmännen Unibake world class competencies in both the UK retail and food service markets.
CEO of Lantmännen Unibake, Bent Pultz Larsen, sees the agreement with Bakehouse as a natural extension of the Eurobuns acquisition:

Bakehouse will continue to operate independently as a one stop shop for continental bakery products and speciality breads. The current Bakehouse management team will continue to lead and run the company, whilst benefiting from the great experience of the Lantmännen Unibake group.
