Flammekueche, the traditional dish from The Alsace on the borders of France and Germany is a delectable thin flatbread spread with crème fraiche and a delicious combination of fresh toppings that cook in seconds until crisp and bursts with flavour on every bite.
The Crepys opened Amelie restaurant in Cambridge to introduce this dish to the UK filling a gap in the market for a fast food that was relatively unknown and tasted quite different – successfully so, winning numerous awards and loyal customers. During the first lockdown they quickly created the Amelie meal kits finding a new market and high demand for this easy tasty dish that quickly could be made at home.
With an eye for finding that gap, the Crepys new venture will now offer pubs, restaurants, hotels, leisure venues as well as schools and hospitals a cost-effective and efficient option to serve consistently high quality skinny pizzas every time without the need for a pizza chef.
Their signature bases are one of a kind on the market as no-one else makes them so thin – at 1mm they give a satisfying crunch but are not brittle. Made from just three ingredients, wheat flour, rapeseed oil and salt, plus water they are also healthier than other options, low in both calories, 268 per 100g and 6.4% fat and contain no yeast so don’t leave a bloated feel. Supplied in different sizes and shapes they are delivered chilled ready to be topped so reducing wastage, minimum training is required and they are competitively priced too.
