Leading ambient food importer, distributor, and brand owner RH Amar, has announced the winners of its second charity prize draw with donations to be made to four winning charities.

The first RH Amar Charity Prize Draw took place last year to mark the family-owned company’s 75th anniversary.  As before, RH Amar customers and brand partners were invited to nominate a charity of their choice to be included in the draw. This year the prize draw fund of £25,000 has been shared between four winning charities.

Rob Amar, RH Amar MD, said: ‘Our charity prize draw last year was intended to be a one off to mark our 75th anniversary, however it felt like the right thing to repeat it this year with nominations again from our brand partners and customers.  Some wonderful nominations for wide-ranging and worthy charities were put forward and we are delighted to be making donations to the four charities chosen at the draw.’

RH Amar colleagues grouped together at the company’s Buckinghamshire-based HQ to watch the draw, which was also live-streamed across the company’s social media channels. This allowed RH Amar’s brand partners and customers to watch the draw and see if their chosen charity was picked.

Rob Amar and RH Amar Brand Manager, Nerene Willis, picked the winning charities which were:

–         Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, nominated by Unitas Wholesale (£10,000)
–         The Belazu Foundation, nominated by Belazu Ingredient Company (£5,000)
–         Prostate Cancer UK, nominated by McClures (£5,000)
–         The DPJ Foundation, nominated by Harlech Foodservice  (£5,000)

Samantha Wood, Head of Fundraising at Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice said: ’We are so honoured and privileged to have been nominated by Unitas Wholesale to be entered into the RH Amar charity prize draw. To hear that we have been chosen to receive £10,000 is just incredible! This year has presented many challenges when it comes to Fundraising and it is amazing to know that we will receive this just before Christmas. Thank you from all of our families here at Bluebell Wood.’

Anita Oakhill, Head of Marketing for Unitas Wholesale said: ‘Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice is a fantastic regional charity which support children, and their families, with life limiting conditions both in the hospice and out in the community.  The hospice has to raise in excess of £5 million annually to operate, of which around only 17% comes from the government, so this amazing charitable contribution on the part of RH Amar is so gratefully received and will be put to very good use in supporting the children and families that use the hospice.  Personally, I cannot thank the team at RH Amar enough for their wonderful donation, having seen the work of Bluebell Wood at first hand it is so very well deserved’

This year’s charity prize draw forms part of RH Amar’s wider commitment to donating 10% of its profits each year to charity. Through this commitment it has donated more than £1.5m to 70 charities since 2013. Charities to have benefited from donations including industry charities GroceryAid, Farm Africa and Action Against Hunger, national charities like MacMillan Cancer Support and Guide Dogs, and local Buckinghamshire charities including Rennie Grove Hospice Care and Heart of Bucks Foundations.
