Premium Irish Whiskey brand, Samuel Gelston’s, is celebrating new listings for its Blended Irish Whiskey and Pinot Noir Cask Finish at selected Waitrose stores across the UK.

Established in Belfast in the 1830s, and purchased by Harry Neill in 1869, the Samuel Gelston’s brand has remained in the Neill family for five generations. The business has been revived by Harry Neill’s, great, great grandson, Johnny Neill.

Samuel Gelston’s Blended Irish Whiskey is made from a blend of locally sourced Irish malted barley and grain that is triple distilled for smoothness, then matured in the finest quality ex-bourbon oak casks. This combination of triple distillation, plus the finest ingredients and cask aging creates an elegantly smooth yet expressive whiskey with rich flavours that can be savoured neat, over ice or mixed into a long refreshing serve.

The Pinot Noir Cask Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey is a result of collaboration between Johnny and his cousin, actor and owner of the Two Paddocks Vineyard, Sam Neill. The whiskey has been triple distilled and matured for 19 months in ex-bourbon casks, before spending a further 21 months maturing in Sam’s French oak casks, which had previously held his prestigious Central Otago Pinot Noir. It’s big, rich and sweet on the palate with a note of blackcurrant and a dash of spice.

Johnny Neill, owner of Samuel Gelston’s Irish Whiskey, said; “This is an incredibly proud and exciting moment, both for myself and the team at Halewood Artisanal Spirits. Harry Neill, my Great Great-Grandfather, would be absolutely delighted to see the brand he purchased all the way back in 1869, our Samuel Gelston’s Irish Whiskey, sitting proudly on the shelf in prestigious Waitrose & Partners stores nationwide”.

The Samuel Gelston’s Blended Irish Whiskey is now available from 180 Waitrose stores across the UK, the Pinot Noir Cask Finish is available in 21. The range is also available in Booths, specialist whisky retailers, and also online via https://samuelgelstons.com/.
