Westons Cider, the UK’s leading authentic cidermaker, has announced the opening of its new Westons Distribution Centre in Herefordshire. Representing an investment of over £3.5 million in site acquisition and development, this latest milestone underscores the family-owned business’s commitment to sustainable growth and supporting the local economy, balanced with operational efficiency.

The 43,000 sq ft site adds more than 3,000 pallet spaces, effectively doubling Westons’ owned warehousing capacity, and strengthens the company’s logistics infrastructure across both domestic and export markets. For trade partners, that means improved availability, greater resilience, and the confidence of supply behind bestselling brands like Henry Westons and Stowford Press which are driving the category.

Strategically located near Westons’ historic mill and key transport links, Westons Distribution Centre will streamline deliveries, reduce congestion at the main site, and simplify the flow of goods across the business. By centralising logistics and reducing reliance on third-party storage, Westons is creating a more agile and cost-efficient operation to further strengthen service consistency and supply security for customers.

The new facility also introduces a semi-automated warehouse featuring an advanced shuttle racking system, representing a significant step forward in storage efficiency and operational performance. By combining high-density storage with automated pallet movement, the system maximises warehouse capacity while reducing manual handling and forklift travel. This investment enables faster stock retrieval, improved inventory accuracy and enhanced safety for warehouse personnel, while providing the flexibility to support increasing customer demand and deliver more reliable order fulfilment.

The facility’s modern warehouse infrastructure will continue to enhance productivity, stock accuracy and safety, ensuring the business can move at pace with customer demand.

The investment is part of Westons’ wider supply chain improvements, which also includes transitioning over 80% of its forklift fleet to electric and adopting route-planning technology and looking to cut CO2 emissions across distribution.

Phil Haskew, Head of Logistics at Westons Cider, said: “This investment strengthens the foundations of our business for the long term. The new Distribution Centre gives us the capacity and resilience to support future growth while continuing to operate efficiently and responsibly. As a fourth-generation, family-owned company, we’re proud to keep investing in Herefordshire, in our infrastructure, our people and the community that has supported us for generations.”

Westons employs more than 325 people locally and remains one of the region’s longstanding family-owned manufacturers, with the new Ledbury site only bolstering this further.  Run by the fourth generation of the Weston family the cidermaker produces category-leading brands including the Henry Westons brand family – worth £100M[1], with more than one bottle of Henry Westons Vintage sold every 0.81 seconds[1] – alongside Stowford Press and Old Rosie.

The Distribution facility marks another confident step in the company’s ongoing commitment to sustainable growth, ensuring it is well positioned to meet rising demand in the UK and abroad, while maintaining its roots firmly in Herefordshire.
