Wrights Food Group has turned to traditional slow cooking methods to ensure even greater depth of flavour in its new range of ready meals, which features nineteen of the nation’s favourite dishes.


After researching the market Wrights decided to go ‘back to basics’ to develop a range which offers exceptional value without compromising on quality and taste.

All of the different dishes in the new Classic range from Crewe based Wrights, encapsulate good, wholesome food, blending traditional, slow cooking methods with the latest manufacturing technology, ensuring the depth of flavour comes through in all the food.

The range will be available to outlets across the foodservice sector, but with a focus on outstanding value and quality, are expected to appeal strongly to independent pubs, restaurants and café bars.

Capturing the traditional taste of the nation’s favourites, dishes include: beef lasagne Verdi, chicken and smoky bacon pasta, chicken curry, chicken tikka, chilli con carne, lamb hotpot, lamb moussaka, deep dish lasagne, shepherd’s pie, cottage pie and tuna pasta bake.

A selection of meat-free alternatives feature options such as: vegetable lasagne Verdi, broccoli and cream cheese bake, macaroni cheese, spinach and mushroom lasagne, spinach and ricotta cannelloni and stilton and vegetable crumble.

All of the dishes can be quickly cooked from frozen or chilled in a microwave or oven, making them ideal for outlets with limited kitchen facilities.

Wrights head of new product development Sue Gwilliam said: “The food development process is what drives the quality of our products and with this new range we have put a lot of effort into delivering a range which provides exceptional quality at affordable prices.  For example, bolognaise we use in our beef and tomato ragu cooks for three hours to bring out the full depth of flavour.”
