Colin6Bestway Direct, the delivery arm of Best-one the symbol group has made its first major appointment in Scotland since the Bestway group has acquired both Bellevue and Martex cash and carry companies at the end of last year.

Colin Smith has been appointed the regional manager for Scotland for Bestway Direct Ltd.

Colin Smith has had a career steeped in the retail and grocery trade. He was born into Scotland’s oldest family bakers, Andrew Smith’s of Carnwath. He graduated from Napier University in Edinburgh with a 2:1 Hons in Business Studies and then joined Bellevue as a placement with the firm as a marketing assistant. He then moved on to Costco in Edinburgh and eventually was headhunted back to Bellevue in 2008.

Now in the next stage of his career, Colin has joined part of the new Bestway operation in Scotland taking the helm at Best-one, which in itself is fast becoming the latest success story in the Bestway Group with 50 new members in Scotland during the past eight months.

James Hall, the controller of Best-one said, “We are delighted to welcome Colin on board especially as the independent trade is both buoyant but at the same time under increasing pressure from the multiple small store format; it has got be a tremendously exciting time.”

Colin Smith added, “This is a great new job for me and with its ever expanding presence in Scotland, Best – one will be encouraging new symbol retailers as well as those converting for the Best – one benefits from all over Scotland, and I look forward to driving this new growth.”
