Bidfood Scotland announces the appointment of Steph Johnstone to the newly created role of Regional Sourcing Manager, marking a major milestone in its commitment to championing Scottish produce. Steph will be responsible for strengthening local supplier relationships and expanding the Scottish range offered to customers across the UK.
With a wealth of multi-channel experience across foodservice, procurement, retail management, and wholesale, Steph has a proven track record of driving growth, innovation, and sustainable supply chain partnerships. She is passionate about supporting regional producers and building resilient supplier networks, along with developing connections with producers, and the broader UK market to help grow individual brands.
Steph joins Bidfood Scotland from Restoration Yard, a store, restaurant and wellbeing lab, where she was retail manager. She also notably spent over seven years at The Cress Company, one of the UK’s largest retail fine food distributor, first as a buyer, before being promoted to head of buying and purchasing.
Talking about her appointment, Steph said: “I’m thrilled to step into this new role to grow our Scottish range at Bidfood, supporting local producers and building strong partnerships. I’m excited to help them flourish in Scotland, as well as throughout the rest of the UK, utilising Bidfood’s extensive distribution network.
“Scotland is home to some exceptional produce, where provenance and quality are key, and I’m looking forward to developing our supplier relationships in order to further extend our inspiring and comprehensive product range to our customers,” adds Steph.
Jon Mack, Business Unit Director for Bidfood Scotland, added:
“This year marks 30 years since we began supporting Scottish producers, starting with just 10 Scottish product lines (SKUs) in 1995 building up to over 500 today.
“Stephanie’s appointment represents a significant step forward in our ambitions to champion Scottish produce. With her expertise and passion, we’re better equipped to strengthen our support for Scottish product, grow its presence and provide to more customers.”
