Bidvest Foodservice, a leading foodservice provider employing 400 people in Scotland, hosted a food and drink event on 10th June at its depot in Newbridge. Richard Lochhead MSP Cabinet Secretary for Rural Affairs, Food and the Environment, and Robin Gourlay of the Scottish Governments Food Policy team were guests on the day.


The theme was ‘Collaboration Works’ and the event was designed to showcase how companies across Scotland have been working together to develop the availability and distribution of Scottish products. The collaboration has been led by Bidvest Foodservice, which partners with both local suppliers such as Cobbs Bakery and large foodservice operators such as CalMac Ferries, as well as working closely with Scotland Food and Drink and Visit Scotland.

John Forteith, head of business development at Bidvest Foodservice Scotland, who hosted the event along with Jon Mack, general manager at Bidvest Foodservice Scotland, explained: “Bidvest Foodservice is working with Scottish bodies and local suppliers to create collaborative working relationships across the industry, to help drive awareness and promote the development and distribution of local Scottish products.

“As a leading wholesaler in the UK food industry, we believe we have an integral role to play and we’ve put in place a dedicated resource to ensure local products can reach a wider customer base.

“With our new decentralised structure, in which general managers manage each of our regions, bringing decision-making closer to our customers, our Scottish depots are better placed than ever before to support smaller producers and connect them with local customers.”
