Spanish food supplier extends range of wholesome jarred legumes

Tapping into the growing trend for plant based proteins, Brindisa introduces the latest additions to the range of Navarrico legumes. The authentic Spanish fine food supplier has extended it’s ambient veg jars to include 700g of Chickpeas with Spinach and White Beans with Vegetables.

Family grown goodness

Based in one of the most fertile regions in Spain, El Navarrico is a family-run specialist who has been supplying Brindisa with pulses, vegetables and fruit for the past 20 years. Working with nature since the 1950s, the business has been handed down through the generations, ensuring the ongoing supply of high quality, sustainably produced, preserved Spanish specialities.  These new SKUs join the bestselling chickpeas which have seen almost a 40% sales increase YOY.

Champion Chickpeas

A typical combination in Spanish cuisine, chickpeas with spinach is the ideal blend for adding substance and goodness to meat-free recipes. The appetising, large chickpeas are cooked to perfection locking in the moisture whilst still retaining their bite. Great as a tapa or starter, season with smoked paprika for extra depth or add salt cod for a more substantial stew.

Full of Beans

Great on their own as an easy vegan meal or as an accompaniment to grilled fish or sausages, white beans mixed with tomatoes, carrots, peppers and onion offer consumers a comforting taste of Spain. Simply cooked this tasty combination can be easily personalised – just add seasoning!

Traditional Spanish cuisine without the prep

Making wholesome, healthy meals has never been easier. With the plant-based market worth a total of £443m[1], these store cupboard essentials present outlets with the opportunity to refresh their authentic Spanish offering with appealing, authentic plant-based options.

Monika Linton, Chairman and Product Director at Brindisa, comments: “Beans and pulses offer a rich source of fibre, protein and B vitamins. They are eaten in many Spanish dishes and have a mild flavour and meat-like texture, making them a healthy swap in stews, soups and sauces. The latest additions to the Navarrico range offer a convenient long-life solution for creating recipes without the hassle.”

With 28% of Brits now opting for a flexitarian diet[2], it’s no surprise that almost one in three food items are chosen for health reasons in the UK. Recognising the growing demand for a variety of products that satisfy vegetarian or vegan needs, Brindisa has introduced a dedicated brochure to showcase its range of meat-free products and simplify the ordering process for customers. More than 30% of Brindisa’s existing range is made up of vegetarian lines.
