One of the UK’s biggest discount wholesalers, www.discount-wholesale.co.uk is set to take centre stage next week as the subject of a prime-time BBC1 documentary.
Discount Wholesale, the online company launched by family-run retailer Poundworld, will appear on BBC1’s popular ‘Pound Shop Wars’ series that airs on Wednesday 16that 7.30pm. Now in its third series, Pound Shop Wars once again lifts the lid on the cut and thrust world of the massively popular discount store.
In the latest episode – the sixth in the current series – cameras will follow head of wholesale Nigel Goodhead, going behind the scenes at the thriving wholesale business that now turns over £7 million annually. The programme features customer and independent salesman Jack who is selling Nigel’s lines to bingo halls and market stalls – but will Nigel convince sceptical Jack that his budget selfie stick is a best seller?
Discount Wholesale was launched in 2012 and stocks over 10,000 products from Poundworld and its multi-price fascia Bargain Buys, helping market traders, E-bay sellers and independent retailers with its retail experience and proven best-seller expertise. The wholesaler that caters for both small and large retailers globally trades from its store online and it also has a show room based in Normanton, West Yorkshire.
Wholesale manager Nigel Goodhead said: “We’re delighted that Discount Wholesale will be appearing on BBC One’s ‘Pound Shop Wars’. It felt extremely out of my comfort zone at first to be filmed 24/7 but after a while you forgot the cameras were there.
“We hope that the TV show will help us to grow sales and we’re anticipating to reach a turnover of £10m by the end of next year.”
