Gluten free experts, Glebe Farm Foods, has launched PureOaty, a gluten free oat drink that is made exclusively from British oats. Containing just three other ingredients; water, sunflower oil and a pinch of salt, PureOaty is importantly never from concentrate and has been created specifically for foodservice professionals. It is the ideal plant-based alternative for baristas to create deliciously creamy coffees and stretches perfectly when steamed for textbook microfoam. As well as its coffee credentials, PureOaty also proves the ideal dairy-free ingredient for chefs to use in a wide variety of culinary applications, from sauces and soups through to baking and desserts.
Unlike some other oat drinks, PureOaty is never made from a concentrated oat syrup base, but instead uses pure British oats, manufactured on home soil at Glebe Farm itself, thanks to the new multi-million-pound production facility, completed in 2019.
Almost a quarter (23%) of British consumers opted for plant-based milk alternatives in the three months to February 2019, up 20% from 2018, with a third of 16-24s now electing for dairy free varieties*. In the UK alone, oat drinks are showing strong year on year growth in retail, up 72.9% according to Kantar data^. Rebecca Rayner, Director at Glebe Farm Foods is delighted to bring PureOaty to the market:
“With the plant based market continuing to grow at a pace, baristas require products that accurately replicate the characteristics of milk. PureOaty ticks both the box of the barista from a performance angle, as well as delivering a deliciously creamy coffee with body and mouthfeel to their customers. We are particularly proud that it is made on our farm in Cambridgeshire and only uses British oats. As such, PureOaty never comes from concentrate and is always freshly made on our farm, packed and delivered to customers.
Many consumers assume that oat milks are naturally gluten-free, however this is not the case. Most commercial oats are processed in facilities that also process wheat, barley, and rye which opens them up to cross-contamination, making them unsuitable for consumers who suffer with gluten allergies and intolerances. We are proud to manufacture PureOaty at our dedicated gluten-free oat mill to ensure complete gluten-free purity”.
PureOaty is suitable for vegans, as well as offering an excellent plant-based option for consumers with a number of dietary requirements including lactose intolerance, coeliac disease and nut allergies. Glebe Farm Foods is the largest certified gluten free oat manufacturer in Europe and supplies oats and cereals to many retailers and foodservice operators across the UK and Europe.
