Fine wine and spirits company Biggar and Leith, today launches an exciting new brand, Stambecco Maraschino Amaro, available internationally.
Stambecco Amaro hails from the Vergnano family distillery, Torino Distillati in Pidemonte, North-Eastern Italy and is made with 100% natural ingredients. Master Distiller, Beppe Ronco, creates the herbal liqueur by infusing herbs and spices including sweet and bitter oranges, coriander seeds, marjoram, oregano, wormwood (also known as artemisia blend), cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg with the unique addition of maraschino cherries. At 35% ABV, Stambecco is smooth, fruity and rounded.
Stambecco is the latest spirit from fine wines, spirits and fancy goods company Biggar & Leith who recently launched the Hotel STARLINO range of Vermouth and Aperitivos. Stambecco Amaro is an exciting craft distilled liqueur with a unique and approachable flavour from the maraschino cherries as well as the 30 traditional botanicals to create a bitter sweet Amaro. The addition of maraschino cherries makes this a unique style of Amaro and a world first.
Stambecco Amaro takes its name from the Italian word for the Ibex or long horned mountain goat which roams the Italian Alps near the distillery and the word monte (mountain) is included on the label.
Stambecco is luxuriously packaged in a distinctive glass bottle, heavily embossed with raised bumps with a bright cherry red stopper. The label is designed in a classic Italian graphic style with iconic lettering and heroes the mountain goat.
Stambecco is owned and distributed internationally by Biggar & Leith who are importers of fine spirts from quality, established and innovative family-owned distilleries. Founder, Elwyn Gladstone says: “Every home bar should have a bottle of Stambecco. This approachable Amaro has a complexity to the spirit which makes it perfectly suited for cocktails such as a Stamhattan – a twist on the Manhattan and it can also be enjoyed neat on the rocks or as an ice cold shot.”
Tasting Notes
Appearance: chestnut brown with a slight tint of red
Aroma: bright citrus notes with underlying spices of cinnamon and cardamom layered with cherry
Taste: medium rich and medium sweet on the palate, with subtle bitter notes. Smooth, fruity and rounded.
