Palmer and Harvey, the UK’s number one delivered wholesaler, has been awarded a GroceryAid Gold Achievement Award for the exceptional support provided to the charity over the past twelve months.

logoGroceryAid reaches out to the wider grocery industry sector – from the largest factory, to the supply chain and through to the smallest of stores – to help all those in need. Palmer and Harvey has supported the charity for many years and this is the first time they have received such an award for their contribution.

This year saw two major fundraising events. Martyn Ward and Paul Hagon of P&H joined the GroceryAid London to Paris Cycle Challenge, raising more than £11,000, and the Palmer and Harvey annual Burns’ Night celebration in January raised more than £105,000. These events, along with regular dress down days and other fundraising activity, enabled GroceryAid to help more than 6,500 former and current industry colleagues; with over £3 million spent on welfare support.

Martyn Ward of P&H said: “I am delighted that our fundraising efforts have been able to help so many people through the GroceryAid charity. We are very thankful to have been recognised for our contributions and we look forward to working with GroceryAid in 2014.”

Gillian Barker, GroceryAid Director General added: “I’d like to personally thank everyone at Palmer and Harvey for their work and continuing support of the charity.”
