Pinnacle Foods is a specialist in the meat and poultry processing industry providing free flow IQF mince and diced Pork, Lamb, Beef, Chicken and Turkey, Chops, Joints and manufacturing Pork, Lamb, Beef, Chicken and Turkey to numerous customers across food industries including, Foodservices, Frozen Food Wholesalers, Multiple Retailers and Food Manufacturers and have now completed their move to a new purpose built 30,000 square foot factory in Alton.
Pinnacle Foods was formed in 2007 following the merger of Wilsons Frosted Meats and Pinnacle Meats so offering a specialist service in providing quality frozen and fresh meat and poultry using contempary techniques but maintaining traditional values.
Graham Reed, Managing Director, selected UPM Conveyors to design the complete product handling system with UPM accepting total responsibility for the complete turn key project which involved the handling of meat and poultry from Goods In through to Band Saws (including inspection and sieving); Dicers, Flakers, Mincers, Undersize Screening to an Octofrost Freezer Tunnel and finally a Multihead Weigher / Bagger and Packing / Despatch with an output of 3 TONS per hour on a 24 hours a day 7 day week operation.
All aspects of manufacture were carried out in house at UPM including fabrication programming and control build based on a central PLC touch screen to interface all belt conveyors to the Multihead Weigher so should a problem arise then product can be diverted.
Graham Reed expressed his total satisfaction with UPM particularly their liaison with other equipment suppliers to ensure a trouble free installation completed ahead of schedule and also commented on the excellent, unique method of quick belt access allowing full pressure wash down to IP67 standard. The system has resulted in a 30% increase in production with a reduction of planned personnel achieving a 6 month pay back on the investment.
