Ritter Sport, who continue to outperform the block chocolate market with double digit growth*, has announced its 2021 festive range, with its three bestselling Winter Edition 100g bars returning to shelves in newly designed matte film packaging, with increased distribution following exceptional sales success in 2020. Joining them are two Ritter Sport Mini Towers, new Nut Selection and popular Chocolate Mix, first appearing in Christmas 2020.

The Ritter Sport Winter Edition line-up:

Caramelized Almonds: Delicious Milk chocolate smothered over chopped, caramelized sugar glazed almonds

Spiced Biscuit: Smooth milk chocolate and cocoa crème wrapped around a winter spice biscuit

Coconut Macaroon: Creamy milk chocolate and coconut crème smothered around tasty pieces of coconut macaroons

Available to convenience via Bestway, Rayburn and Dhamecha.

Other stockists include Sainsbury’s, OCADO, Wilko plus on Ritter Sport’s own online choco store.

MRRP £1

The range is set to drive significant profits once again as Katy Clark, Head of Marketing at Ritter Sport UK & IRE recalls: “Despite footfall down 30% over last year’s Christmas period due to COVID-19, the Winter Edition bars still saw a 95% total sell through within a major high street retailer. A promising indicator of their performance and consumer demand.”

There’s a similar success story to be expected for Ritter Sport’s Mini Tower Chocolate Mix gifting format which is joined by a new nutty SKU for 2021:

New for 2021 – Mini Tower Nut Selection (7 pieces)

A nut lover’s heaven containing perfect squares packed with Whole Hazelnuts and wrapped in deliciously smooth Milk, Dark or White chocolate.

Mini Tower Chocolate Mix (9 pieces)

Packed with our favourite squares including cornflake, praline, butter biscuit, alpine milk, chopped hazelnut and festive marzipan.

“The format is ideal for the Christmas gifting period as a either a stocking filler or token gift for family and friends, or even a thank you for teachers at the end of a busy year,” says Katy.

Mini Towers are available in Waitrose, Morrisons and Spar with an MRRP £3 or promo of 2 for £5 plus on Ritter Sport’s own online choco store.

“The mini tower format had a great first year in market last Christmas with a ‘top 6’ retailer selling the Mini Tower Chocolate Mix, selling through the entire original predicted volumes by the first week in November! The retailer went on to place an additional order and we were pleased to see that the gifting format was resonating with consumers and fulfilling a shopper need,” Katy continues.

Importantly, the primary packaging for both Mini Towers is fully recyclable, and the paper-based secondary packaging is FSC certified. Research revealed 21% of chocolate buyers are tempted by products which are available in recyclable packaging¹. Ritter Sport is a leader in this important area, says Katy. Its CO2 neutral status reflects its passion to do things sustainably, which is at the very heart of the brand.

Another big year for Ritter Sport

The launch of the 2021 festive range rounds off another big year for Ritter Sport UK & IRE, who launched Ritter Sport Mini Pouches and Ritter Sport Mini impulse bars here in the spring. The results aren’t in yet for 2021, but in 2020 the family-owned German chocolate maker posted a record year, its sixth consecutive growth year since launching. Ritter Sport outperformed the block chocolate market in all channels with 37%[1] annual growth, 50% ahead of the category.
