- Popular snack brand Wotsits is responding to the nation’s pleas to bring back favourite flavours, but with a modern twist: Flamin’ Hot and Sizzling Steak
- The new flavours will be supported by TV, digital and in-store shopper marketing
- The launch opens a sales opportunity for retailers by meeting shopper demand for meat and spicy flavours, as well as offering different formats for all occasions
Wotsits, the family favourite snack brand from Walkers, is adding two new flavours to its line-up – Flamin’ Hot and Sizzling Steak – following pleas from the nation to bring them back. The new additions will sit alongside the famous cheese flavour and will hit shelves from Monday 13th January.
Fernando Kahane, Walkers Marketing Director at PepsiCo, comments: “Shoppers are expanding their repertoire within the savoury snacks category and actively seeking out flavours that pack a punch. Meat and spicy flavours, in particular, have experienced double-digit growth over the past year, so it’s no surprise that consumers have been asking for the return of Wotsits Flamin’ Hot and Wotsits Sizzling Steak.”
Both variants will be available in grab-bag, £1 RRP price-marked-pack, sharing and multipack formats to suit different occasions. “At a time of year when shoppers may be on a bit of a health kick, the new Wotsits flavours make for an attractive snack option,” Kahane continues. “The multipack bag options available contain under 100 kcal[1], use no preservatives and, what’s more, the entire Wotsits line-up is suitable for vegetarians.”
Walkers will be supporting the launch with a multi-touchpoint marketing campaign, spanning in-store shopper marketing from February and TV and digital from March.
The introduction of these two new flavours follows the brand new look for Walkers’ popular family snacks range, which was unveiled in August 2019. The makeover included a 30% reduction on average in outer plastic packaging*.
