The new range from Lantmännen Unibake’s Americana, enables operators to offer premium burger buns for vegan diners, without compromising on quality, flavour or texture

This Veganuary, Lantmännen Unibakes Americana is introducing three new on-trend and premium products to its line-up of gourmet vegan burger buns – available for operators to order now.

  • Tapping into the popularity for gourmet burgers to meet all tastes and preferences, driven by the rise in demand of brioche, the NEW Americana Grill Marked Vegan Brioche Style Bun is the first of its kind. Fully baked and fully sliced, this glazed and grill marked burger bun is the ideal plant-based alternative, with all the flavour and texture of a soft buttery brioche
  • The 4” fully baked, fully sliced NEW Americana Glazed Craft Bun features a higher domed shape bun with a premium glazed top to give the perfect ‘instagrammable’ finish to any burger (no filter needed)
  • Finally, the NEW 4” Americana Linseed Bun is glazed and topped with Golden Linseed for a distinctive and more wholesome finish. Also supplied fully baked and fully sliced for convenience

With veganism and vegetarianism now being two of the biggest consumer trends to affect the eating-out market, 66% of consumers would opt for, or are open to, meat-alternative dishes[1]. The new additions to the Americana range aim to broaden appeal to a wider audience, enabling consumers with all dietary preferences and requirements to enjoy the experience of a gourmet burger and bun.

Not only is veganism a top trend, but burgers have also retained their position as one of the most regularly ordered menu items at dinner time. As many as one third of consumers cited the burger as the meal they were most looking forward to when heading out to eat[2] and 77% of diners are likely to order a burger in a pub or restaurant monthly or more regularly[3]. By adding appealing vegan options to burger menus, operators can open their outlet up to a larger range of customers.

Sam Winsor, Brand Manager for Lantmännen Unibakes Americana, comments: “Because burgers are still such popular menu items, to stand out outlets need to offer a great quality, gourmet burger to maintain that customer loyalty. When choosing a burger in a pub or restaurant, 84% of diners would opt to make it gourmet and 91% say quality of ingredients is important or very important to them[4]. So, with 69% of the burger being the bun, the quality of bun is just as significant to consider as the filling.  Consumers are also willing to pay up to £1.35 more for their burger to come in a gourmet bun[5], so it is vital that operators stock high-quality products for all preferences and communicate this to their customers in order to maximise profits.”

“Additionally, flavour is a key driver to ordering a burger (46%)[6], so alternative options to suit specific diets and preferences should not compromise on taste or quality. Our new range of vegan gourmet burger buns, delivers the same premium look and eating experience as the rest of our gourmet buns – specifically the NEW Americana Grill-Marked Vegan Brioche Style Bun, which is the first of its kind, allowing plant-based diners to experience a brioche-style bun with the added benefit of being vegan.”

In-keeping with the same benefits as the rest of the Americana Gourmet Bun range, the new Americana vegan burger buns are frozen, pre-sliced and quick to defrost helping to simplify kitchen operations and avoid food wastage.

With more out-of-home customers demanding premium vegan options on the menu, Americana has registered its range of gourmet buns with The Vegan Society to help its customers easily identify its top, must-stock products for this market.
