Birds Eye launches Green Cuisine Battered Fishless Fillets for the foodservice market

Frozen food specialist Birds Eye announces that its plant-based Green Cuisine Battered Fishless Fillets will be available to foodservice customers from October 2022.

Inspired by Birds Eye’s popular battered fish fillet, the new product is made with rice protein for a flaky texture. It is a source of protein and omega-3 fatty acids and is coated in a light and crispy batter.

The launch follows on from the success of the brand’s Fishless Fingers which feature the same rice protein filling but with Birds Eye’s ‘signature’ golden crumb coating.

Victoria Westwood, Marketing Lead UK at Green Cuisine said: “Our Battered Fishless Fillets tap into the consumer demand for familiar products that are flavoursome, healthy and convenient but which can also help them reduce their meat intake.”

Gerard Purnell, Business Development Controller for Foodservice, Birds Eye added; “Our mission is to make the benefits of plant-based food accessible to all, as well as capitalising on the huge opportunity for the fishless category within the growing foodservice sector. The Green Cuisine Fishless Fingers have been very popular in the OOH market, so we’re hoping to replicate the success with the new fillets!”

Birds Eye Green Cuisine is a comprehensive range of plant-based products, including meat-free burgers and sausages, meat-less meatballs, crisp chicken-free dippers, Southern Fried strips, and traditional veggie burgers.

Birds Eye is part of Nomad Foods, the No 1 Frozen Food Company in Great Britain* and has a portfolio of iconic brands including Aunt Bessie’s, Goodfella’s and Green Cuisine. The company endeavours to serve the nation with better food, promoting the nutritional benefits and convenience of frozen food and the role it plays in helping reduce food waste.
