Welcome to the December issue of Wholesale Manager. Sysco GB, Britain’s leading foodservice supplier, has scooped a major sustainability award at the Green Apple Awards. The organisation picked up the Retail and Wholesale Waste Management GREEN CHAMPIONS award for the work it has undertaken across its British sites to improve sustainability. This includes increasing recycling rates of materials like wooden pallets, cardboard and shrink wrap as well as redistributing surplus food to charities supporting local communities.

One of the UK’s leading foodservice wholesalers, Creed Foodservice, has announced their 2025 Trends for the coming year. Creed’s expert insights team, led by Insights Manager Anna Clapson, has streamlined their 2025 trends around one core macro trend, with six trends dovetailing out of it. The core macro trend – Adapt to Survive – is reflective of the current climate.

The English Lake District’s proud independent foodservice wholesaler McClures has been announced as the latest company to join the Country Range Group. Based in Windemere in the heart of the English Lake District, McClures is a family-owned business which was set up by Bill McClure in 1945.

SPAR has unveiled its BIG DEAL campaign which shines a light on the unsung, essential heroes of Christmas, such as bin bags, salt, tin foil and eggs). To celebrate their Christmas deals, they’ve created a mock, tongue-in-cheek must have range to go against the perfect and more traditional Christmas images. Perhaps the best way wholesalers can prepare for 2025 is to focus on what they do best – looking after their customers, making sure they have the best product ranges their customers demand, keeping prices at the right level and ensuring their staff are providing the highest level of service possible. Wholesale Manager spoke to some of the UK’s leading wholesalers to ask what they think will be the biggest trends to emerge in the new year and how the industry can be prepared for 2025.
