Fray Bentos is answering the demand for nutritious, speedy dinners with a new range of microwavable ambient pots.

Available in four flavours – BBQ Sausage And Black Bean Stew, Chicken Curry, Meatball Arrabiata and Vegan Bolognese – they provide a convenient shortcut to hearty, home-cooked pub grub at home for when you don’t fancy picking up a pan.

Ready-to-eat from the microwave in just three minutes, each pot provides a delicious, protein rich, time-saving solution that fits into people’s busy lives.

Lorraine Rothwell, Marketing Director at Fray Bentos, comments: “As a nation we’re increasingly hard-pressed for time with ever more of us now looking for quick and easy meal-time solutions that don’t compromise on quality.

“Yet so much in the convenience sector is not currently meeting those needs.

“We spotted an appetite for an entirely new proposition based on hearty home-cooked dishes made from quality ingredients that are simple to prepare.

“Whether you can’t face the prospect of cooking from scratch – or fancy a swift and nutritious meal following a trip to the gym, our no-fuss pots provide the ultimate in convenience.

“Made from real ingredients, they require just three minutes in the microwave before they can be enjoyed as part of a simple, speedy meal.”

The pots provide a hearty main element for a meal – leaving the choice of how to accompany them up to you. Suggested combinations include mash for the BBQ Sausage And Black Bean Stew, rice for Chicken Curry and pasta for both the Meatball Arrabiata and Vegan Bolognese flavours.

The range is inspired by British favourite dishes.

The BBQ Sausage And Black Bean Stew contains sliced pork sausage, brown sugar, mustard, smoked paprika and tomato slowly cooked with black eyed beans to provide a classic sweet and smoky flavour profile.

The Meatball Arrabiata sees chilli, oregano, peppers, garlic, tomatoes and onions form the basis of a subtly spicy sauce for the pork meatballs. Great with pasta but also perfect for your own Meatball sub.

For the Vegan Bolognese, soy mince is accompanied by a deep, rich tomato sauce that packs in flavour and features herbs and spices including oregano, basil and black pepper.

And the Chicken Curry is a loving tribute to the great British chip shop curry. Juicy chicken leg is cooked in an expertly-blended sauce comprising of garlic, ginger, turmeric, chilli, coriander, garam masala and lime juice.

Darren Sivewright, Group Innovation Manager at Baxters comments: “We’ve created delicious and nutritious recipes that are inspired by British favourite dishes.

“What all these dishes have in common is that they feature real ingredients for real appetites, that can be ready in no time at all.”

The pots come in packaging that is 98% recyclable with the full range available in Home Bargains, Nisa, Costcutter, Spar and Booths, with an RRP of £1.50.

They join Fray’s canned meatballs, microwavable Meaty Puds and their iconic range of pies in a tin, which have recently been revamped to feature a third more meat.

This year, Fray Bentos ramped up its marketing activity with a cheeky digital campaign set to win over a new generation of pie lovers keen to experience their favourite pie and a pint in lockdown. This included the first ever Home Pub of the Year competition and a brand new pub grub style creative.
