The Scottish Wholesale Association (SWA) has set out ambitious plans to reach net zero by 2040, in time for Scotland’s net-zero target of 2045, in a new report, ‘Decarbonising the Scottish Wholesale Sector’, which explores the sector’s carbon emissions and attitudes to climate action. SWA’s report is launched alongside the UK Wholesale Sector Net Zero Roadmap, developed in collaboration with FWD (Federation of Wholesale Distributors) and was unveiled at the FWD conference on 29 June.

Parfetts is rolling out LED lighting and solar panels at its depots across the UK. The move will drastically reduce the company’s carbon footprint and generate cost savings that help to drive value across the business. The programme sees new LED lighting installed in Halifax and Sheffield, with Anfield to follow. Adding to existing solar panels at Halifax, installation is now complete in Sheffield, Anfield and Stockport depots.

Unitas is helping its wholesale members save up to £6.5 million in banking charges in the next year following a new partnership with EchoPay. The partnership is one of several services Unitas is exploring to help its wholesale members reduce their costs to effectively respond to the rising costs of doing business. EchoPay enables businesses to take payments using open banking channels, rather than through more costly debit and credit card providers (e.g., Visa and Mastercard).
