Parfetts is encouraging all retailers to take advantage of the sales opportunities created by The Rugby World Cup, which kicks off in France on Friday, 8 September.

According to industry data from Asahi, the 2015 Rugby World Cup held in England saw an uplift in beer sales with +4% value growth over the previous year. For rugby fans, beer is the number one choice of beverage (60% choose beer), with lager the most popular beer type (Source: BrandTrack Q2 2022. GB: 5,000).

Parfetts has loaded its trade week, which ends on Saturday 9 September, with beer offers that help retailers maximise their margins. The wholesaler has an extensive beer range from premium lagers to local craft ales. Beers come in a large number of pack sizes, designed to be ready to drink from the chiller and larger pack sizes to drink at home.

Commenting on the opportunity, Jamie Ferguson, head of marketing at Parfetts, said: “The Rugby World Cup is an incredible opportunity for our retailers. It will drive increased BWS sales, with a focus on beers. We understand the importance of chilled, ready-to-drink beers for convenience and offer a wide range at industry-leading prices.

“Over 70% of rugby fans plan to watch the games at home, so ensuring sufficient stock of popular brands is key. We have secured fantastic promotional offers on a wider range of beers, with the largest POR on Asahi at 42.5% (12x620ml).”

The offers include Stella Pints at 26.1% POR, Desperado 3x330ml at 28% POR, and Carling 10x440ml at 30.7%.

Parfetts operates depots in Aintree, Anfield, Birmingham, Halifax, Middlesbrough, Sheffield, Sommercoates and Stockport. Its operations cover Northumberland to Wales, the Midlands and Northamptonshire.
