Bestway has announced its partnership with Jisp – an award-winning shopping and payment app – to provide its franchise and symbol partners with the opportunity to offer their customers Home Delivery and Click & Collect services.

Use of the Jisp app is currently being trialled within the Bestway estate, and is expected to be made available to all Bestway’s partners in the New Year.  The app is contact-free and can be easily accessed using mobile phones.  Jisp will enable retailers to further understand customer insights and tailor products and services for their individual needs.

Importantly, as a major benefit, Bestway has confirmed there will be no charge to its retail partners to use Jisp, including its Home Delivery and Click & Collect platform.

Managing Director, Dawood Pervez reinforced that for many retailers, customer demand for Home Deliveries and Click & Collect has grown significantly and there is a real need to support their business with ‘best-in-class’ technology that is easy to use for both the retailer and the consumer – technology that each retailer may not be able to afford individually:

“There is huge opportunity for UK convenience retailers. Research undertaken in May shows that during the lockdown 1, over 26% of the UK population used c-stores for Home Delivery or Click & Collect*.  Furthermore, according to the ACS (Association of Convenience Stores), 57% of retailers have launched Home Delivery services in one form or another, since the pandemic took hold.

“And we know that it is difficult for retailers to compete with the multiples in terms of the investment they are able to put into technology platforms.  Whilst it is certainly possible for a retailer to develop their own platform – or consider working with a third-party delivery company, there are important considerations especially around where ownership of the information and data, may lie.

“Our partnership with Jisp is designed to empower our partners by giving them functionality that goes beyond the very basic order capture system and enables them to compete with the best in the business.  It can be accessed through smart / mobile technology – which everyone is now familiar with using – making it very easy for consumers to use the app.

“Retailers will be able to understand their customers better in terms of products and range and individual preferences, helping them to upsell and grow sales.”

Julian Fisher, the CEO and Founder of Jisp, said: “We are cementing our position as the definitive convenience store service with best-in-class shopping solutions for independent retail. Partnering with Bestway is a testament to our app and team. We are thrilled to be working with such an iconic wholesaler to provide technology for local stores previously only available to giant supermarkets and online grocers”.

Bestway Wholesale is a leading supply partner to over 50,000 retailers, covering company owned stores, franchise stores, symbol group, retail club and independent retailers.  The company is passionate about supporting retailers and giving them a voice around supply chain issues (fair distribution for all) and challenges that affect trading.

Pervez concludes:

“This is a real opportunity for retailers to introduce an advanced, and already proven, all-in-one shopping app into their business as part of our promise to them and importantly, at no charge to their business.

“For us, it’s all about service excellence, and part of that excellence is around the evolution and application of technology and helping retailers remain fit for the future in line with their own customers’ needs”.
