Leading Spanish wholesaler and importer, Mevalco, has announced a new partnership with Edu Torres-Molino Roca – a legendary rice producer based in Segorbe that has operated as a family business since 1903.

Segorbe has a cold and dry climate and is situated some 450 metres above sea level ensuring the rice does not ferment and assuring its superb quality. The rice rests for no less than three months and is freshly polished.  It is free of treatment from gases and from every 1,000 kilos of paddy rice, the family obtains only 450kilos of finished rice.

Mevalco is offering its customers a choice of rice from this historic producer which still operates the very finest of old traditions in its production methods.

Dinamita Rice:

This rice has the perfect texture and consistency for Mediterranean’ cuisine that calls on dry rice.  It is renowned for its purity, its high amylose content and great power to absorb flavours.  It’s a round and exquisite grain.

Dynamite Gran Reserva Rice:

This rice is the jewel in the crown of Molino Roca and is the best kept secret in the house!  It’s a small and glutinous grain, with a remarkable absorption capacity, ideal for dry paellas and risottos.  It takes two years to mature before it can be sold.  It cooks in 15-18 minutes.
