ForkLift_altWarehouse supervisor Graham Hewitt is the new face of Palmer and Harvey’s latest advertising campaign.

The 43-year-old from St Helens was chosen from the wholesaler’s 3,800 staff to feature in the trade press advertising campaign for Palmer and Harvey (P&H)’s trade show, Pro-retail.

The campaign will run in magazines, online and across P&H customer collateral in the lead up to the show.

The father-of-two’s energy and enthusiasm was what got him noticed for the modelling gig. He was nominated by Brendan McMahon his boss at Haydock distribution centre where he works.

Brendan said: ‘Graham is always lively and making people smile. He is a massive asset to the warehouse and we thought no-one would be better to represent Palmer and Harvey in the public eye than Graham.’

Graham says:’ I’ve never really done anything like this before, well apart from my wedding photos, so I was a bit apprehensive but on the day it was great. I was really excited by the opportunity to do my bit to support pro-retail.’

Each day Graham gets up at 4.45am to ensure his branch is fully stocked and prepped so P&H’s lorries can fill up on their way to make deliveries all over Merseyside and surrounding areas.

Graham has been working at P&H for 18 months. He says: ‘I was made redundant a couple of years ago and was determined to get back into full time work.

After a few months in a temporary job I was delighted to get the opportunity to work at P&H. I knew once I got my foot in the door I could work my way up. And I did.’

Graham started work as a forklift truck driver in the chilled and frozen warehouse, spending seven hours a day in temperatures as low as minus 24. After a year Graham had made such an impression on his bosses he was promoted to supervisor.

Held in Telford, Shropshire, Pro-retail draws more than 220 leading suppliers and manufacturers, making it the must-attend industry event for exhibitors and visitors alike.

Help and advice will be on hand from leading industry experts and P&H’s own buyers and marketing managers at this year’s category zones, which will focus on chilled foods and alcohol, the fastest-growing convenience categories in the UK.

All of 2011’s initiatives are an integral part of P&H’s aim to deliver an interactive and educational event that showcases best-in-class solutions for independent retailers.

P&H’s symbol offer, Mace, will also feature at Pro-retail. Visitors will be able to see and sample first-hand the Mace Food to go concept that is currently rolling out nationwide.

Pro Retail takes place on Tuesday 10 and Wednesday 11 May 2011 at the International Centre in Telford, Shropshire.
