SPAR retailers benefit from four day study tour

James Hall & Co, SPAR UK wholesaler for the North of England have been sharing inspiration and best practice across their retail portfolio during a four day SPAR Retailer Study Tour.

Showcasing a variety of both SPAR G&E Murgatroyd company owned stores and independent SPAR stores across the North of England, 150 SPAR retailers and store managers attended the programme, visiting 21 stores from four geographical areas including Preston; Durham; Southport and Manchester.

Retailers from James Hall’s retail portfolio of 640 stores had the chance to compete for a fantastic £100,000 worth of investment from James Hall’s store-design team, with £25,000 won each day.

The tour allowed retailers to explore the latest in-store installations such as James Hall’s latest food-to-go offering, Clayton Park Deli and in-store bakery, butchery and coffee concessions situated within a range of urban, forecourt and village locations.

Retailers also met members of the SPAR Northern Guild Committee which works to support independent SPAR retailers, develop new initiatives and review the latest industry trends.

Peter Dodding, Sales and Marketing Director at James Hall said: “The SPAR Retailer Study Tour has been a resounding success and highlights the value of being part of a symbol group such as SPAR.

“This valuable experience provided independent retailers with the opportunity to build relationships with a wide range of individuals throughout the business, share ideas and develop new and exciting initiatives to take back to their own stores.”
