euroway-apetito-0309Leading commercial vehicle services company Euroway Group has recently completed a major fleet deal with food manufacturer Apetito, replacing the bulk of its national distribution fleet in a long term contract deal that also includes Euroway’s full 24/7 service and maintenance support.

Euroway has supplied Apetito with a total of 36 new vehicles, including Mercedes Axor Euro5 tractor units and a range Mercedes Atego rigid trucks at 13t, 15t, 18t and 26t GVW, all of which are specified with G&A refrigerated bodies fitted with Carrier Supra refrigeration systems and Dhollandia taillifts. These new vehicles join Apetito’s 41 strong fleet and are operating from the company’s seven regional locations, including their national distribution centre in Portbury, Bristol.

This is the first time that Apetito has used Euroway for the supply of its distribution vehicles and follows an intensive two-year tender process, which saw Euroway win the fleet replacement programme that has now been recently completed.

“Euroway, who were relatively unknown to us prior to the tender, impressed us with their customer service ethos and their work ethic. In the short time that we have been working together, Euroway has clearly demonstrated its commitment to Apetito and is passionate about our business,” said John Bromfield, Transport Manager at Apetito.

The contract with Euroway started during 2008 with a phased introduction of the new distribution fleet, which was completed by the end of the year and as John Bromfield says, “although we are primarily a frozen food manufacturer, transport plays a key role in the success of our business.  The relationship we now have with Euroway is a vital part of our distribution operation as they provide us with proven fleet management expertise and superb day-to-day contact, which is essential for our intensive daily distribution operation.”

Apetito is one of Europe’s leading suppliers of quality frozen food and catering solutions, working alongside caterers in many social sectors including healthcare, local authorities, education and most recently, care homes. On average the Apetito distribution fleet covers over 40 routes per day, through six regional transhipment points across the UK. From these locations, Apetito, on average, will make 1000 deliveries per week to its 700 strong UK customer base.

“The Apetito distribution operation is a well established and successful business.  By working closely with the team at Apetito, Euroway has been able to integrate the new fleet replacement programme with minimal disruption and with our proven 24/7 fleet management support, we now look forward to further developing this partnership with Apetito over the duration of the contract,” said Geoff Howard, Group Sales Director at Euroway.
