- Border Biscuits’ best-selling Dark Chocolate Ginger biscuit has evolved into a new snack bar.
- Offering convenience to Scots snacking on the go, the individually wrapped bar is made with the Famously Fiery recipe of Scotland’s number one special treat biscuit.
- Originally launched in packs of 6 at the start of 2020, Scotmid will be the first to stock the new 5 bar pack specifically designed for convenience channels.
Award-winning biscuit manufacturer, Border Biscuits, is continuing to build on the success of its recently launched Dark Chocolate Ginger bars with the unveiling of a new 5 bar pack designed specifically for retailers in the convenience channel.
The new Dark Chocolate Ginger bars are crafted to the same Famously Fiery recipe of the nation’s favourite chocolate ginger biscuit and will be available in 190 Scotmid stores throughout Scotland in packs of five from today, with each bar containing just 113 calories.
With 50% of consumers revealing they’re snacking on the go more than ever*, the new individually wrapped Dark Chocolate Ginger bars are the first snack bars from the award-winning Lanark based manufacturer. The venture to snack bars comes on the back of the brand’s Dark Chocolate Ginger officially being crowned the UK’s favourite chocolate covered ginger biscuit with sales reaching over £5million**.
John Cunningham, Managing Director of Border Biscuits, said: “For the last 35 years, the flavours in our traditional recipes have played an important role in our customer’s enjoyment of our beautifully crafted biscuits.
“The decision to focus on our hero biscuit, the Dark Chocolate Ginger, and our new Famously Fiery campaign is a reflection of this. We are a growing family-owned business and we have an ambitious strategy to continue to build sales.
“Following an extremely positive response from consumers to the initial launch in January, we are delighted to now be able to bring this new pack size to market that makes our Dark Chocolate Ginger bars a viable and attractive option for wholesalers and retailers in the convenience sector.”
Kirsty George, Local Sourcing Manager at Scotmid Co-Operative, commented: “We are delighted to bring new and exciting products to the shelves for our consumers in Scotland and the fact it is an innovation from a locally based company is another great benefit.”
