Can you provide a brief overview of Kite Packaging and its core offerings?

Our core products include cardboard boxes, tapes, pallets and pallet wrap, void fill and cushioning, and a range of pack room equipment and machinery. You can find an extensive selection of products in these categories, including single- and double-wall boxes, heavy-duty and extra heavy-duty cartons, pallet and postal boxes. We also have 1-, 2- and 3-inch tapes, and pallets in timber, press wood and plastic to name just a few of our 2500 plus stock products.

We really do aim to be a one-stop shop for our customers, offering everything in one place to conveniently streamline their packaging and shipping needs.

What sets Kite Packaging apart from other packaging companies in the sector?

We stand out from other packaging companies through our people, customer-focussed approach, and commitment to exceptional service.

As the only employee share-owned packaging supplier in the industry, our unique culture of partnership means we are invested in delivering a first-class experience to our customers with every order. Can you elaborate on Kite Packaging’s approach to eco-friendly packaging solutions?

We offer eco-friendly options by prioritising materials that are recyclable, biodegradable, made from recycled content, or from responsibly managed resources. For example, our single- and double-wall boxes are made with 60-90% recycled content while the remaining raw materials come from sustainably managed forests. They are also recyclable and therefore contribute to a circular economy, which reduces their environmental impact.

Looking at packaging holistically allows us to consider sustainability across a product’s lifecycle. By doing this, we can really focus on solutions that optimise material efficiency, minimise waste, use less energy and emit fewer greenhouse gases. A notable example of this are our enviro boxes. These premium single wall boxes are more durable than standard single wall varieties, while also being 7% lighter in weight and emitting 30% less CO2 emissions during production. Through products like these, we help our customers to ‘please use less packaging,’ as seen on our delivery trucks.

Partnering with manufacturers who share our vision and commitment to environmental responsibility is key and allows us to provide high-quality packaging solutions that are effective and environmentally conscious. How does Kite Packaging ensure that it meets the diverse needs of its clients?

With our extensive selection of products, from standard packaging like boxes, tape and pallet wrap to more specialised items like gift and food packaging. These allow us to cater to a variety of industries and requirements.

Kite’s telesales team works closely with customers to understand their needs and deliver solutions that address those requirements effectively. We provide dedicated support throughout the purchasing process, offering guidance on product selection and efficient packaging practices. This personalised approach ensures that clients receive the right products and services to meet their unique needs.

Our new products development team invests in research and continuously looks to expand our product range. They are also improving our existing offerings to keep up with changing market demands.

For customers that require bespoke solutions, we can service them through our Regional Distribution Centres specialising in tailored packaging, ensuring no customers’ needs go unmissed.

What packaging solutions have you recently brought to market?

Recently, we have brought two fantastic packaging solutions to market that enhance efficiency and customisation in packaging processes.

Firstly, our new case erector significantly boosts productivity by automating the assembly of corrugated cardboard boxes. While the average packer can erect three boxes per minute, our case erector produces up to twelve, delivering a 300% productivity increase. This machine accommodates various carton sizes and runs smoothly without vibration, making it ideal for high-volume production environments.

Additionally, we have introduced a build-your-own pallet box solution. This system allows customers to customise their pallet boxes by selecting from different pallet sizes, tray and cap options, and sleeve strengths. For heavier loads, our 600 ACEBOARD pallet sleeve offers exceptional durability, while our heat-treated pallets ensure compliance with ISPM15 standards. This step-by-step approach simplifies the purchasing process and ensures that each pallet box meets specific needs, whether for regular or heavy-duty applications.
