Mondel?z International, makers of the nation’s favourite treats including Cadbury Dairy Milk, BelVita, Maynard’s Bassetts and OREO, has announced it will reduce the packaging by 15% across its iconic large Cadbury share bags as part of the company’s strategy to optimise its packaging – through either reduction or removal – contributing to its global target to eliminate 65,000 tonnes of packaging by the end of 2020.

As part of the company’s ‘pack light and pack right’ packaging strategy, Cadbury Giant Buttons, Caramel Nibbles and Bitsa Wispa large sharing bags in the UK will contain the same amount of treats as before, but in a new optimised pack format that uses 15% less packaging.

Smaller bags also means fewer trucks are required to transport the same amount of product. As a result, the number of trucks needed for transportation will be reduced by 14%. These new packs will be on shelves nationwide from mid-September 2020 and are the first in a series of moves planned in the UK to remove or reduce unnecessary packaging without compromising product safety or quality.
