Perfect for dipping, Brakes’ award-winning Japanese-style Karaage King Prawns will bring a touch of the Orient to the buffet or starter menu.

Following the traditional Japanese karaage technique, the succulent butterfly king prawns are first marinated with fresh ginger, garlic and soya sauce, then coated in a potato starch that, once it is cooked, produces a tempura-like bite which is ideal for soaking up dipping sauces. Unlike tempura however, karaage foods take their flavour from the piquant marinade.

The prawns are supplied frozen and raw, with tails removed, fully prepared and ready to cook. Deep fry in hot oil at 180°C for 3 to 4 minutes to achieve the best, authentic results. Rated Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) 3, they come packed in 1kg bags. Brakes’ Japanese Karaage King Prawns were ‘highly rated’ in the recent 2017 Chef’s Choice Awards, making them a surefire winner on the menu.
