Wholesale_SpringWelcome to the Spring 2011 Wholesale Manager. As the days get warmer, we hope you’ve had a successful start to the year.

READ THE SPRING ISSUE HERE

Here is the latest issue of the UK cash ‘n’ carry and delivered wholesale industry’s very own independently published, sector-specific tabloid magazine. We’ve specially created Wholesale Manager and made it distinctly different – bright, fresh and readable.

We’ve designed Wholesale Manager to be the title of choice that wholesale managers turn to when they want a good read – in print or digitally. Hence we’re publishing this in print, digital format and on our web site.

As a publisher we pride ourselves on taking an innovative and independent approach to the business of communication. We’re committed to giving you, the wholesalers serving the nation’s independent retailers and the catering trade, your own publication dedicated to you, with the latest information from the suppliers you rely on for the best selling products and big name brands.

We’ve also drawn up our features in this issue to help you focus on the big business opportunities coming up. When spring comes, consumers become more relaxed, good news for everyone in the wholesale business, and in retail and catering too. But the big bonus this April is the double bubble of the Easter weekend and the Royal Wedding, creating a second festive fortnight with people grabbing the opportunity to enjoy themselves for the best part of a fortnight, but hopefully with sunshine.

To help you make the most of the opportunity, we’ve got features on Personal Care, Soft Drinks, Spring Cleaning and Table Talk.

Spring 2011 promises cleaning products’ brightest sales for years. And with a high proportion of these bought as distress purchases in local neighborhood stores, it’s great news for delivered wholesalers and cash ‘n’ carries who offer their retail customers an extensive household cleaning range. There’s the traditional British spring cleaning frenzy and increased demand thanks to the spending squeeze meaning people are entertaining more at home: and then there’s the April Festive Fortnight.

Whatever the economy does, people will still want to look and feel their best, and being well groomed is a crucial part of their routine in thick and thin. They are prepared to pay for Personal Care products and expect to find them in their neighborhood store, with the help of wholesalers.

Wholesale continues to be a massively important channel for soft drinks. In the current difficult economic climate people in the UK are now more than ever having to balance their work and social lives and look for products that fit with their busy lifestyles. Impulse retailers with the right product range can profit handsomely – and so can the cash ‘n’ carry operators and delivered wholesalers who supply them.

When spring comes, it’s peak season for sauces and condiments. When it’s cold, as a nation we are literally ‘bottled up.’ As the temperature rises and we eat more meals outside we become more inclined to splash out – and the same goes for sauces and condiments.

Here’s to a good spring and successful trading.
