Scotland’s largest independent cash and carry firm has carried out an intensive disinfecting programme in response to the rise in Scottish COVID-19 cases.
United Wholesale (Scotland) recruited PSS Protect to carry out deep clean and disinfectant work across its three depots and head office using the firm’s bio-fogging technology, which sterilises surfaces by coating them with an anti-bacterial mist.
UWS previously recruited PSS Protect to carry out similar work in May and the firm’s technology has also been used in multiple other settings.
PSS Protect is a new UK-wide division of the Property Support Services (PSS) group, providing deep cleaning services for offices, shops, restaurants, hair salons, care homes, hotels, football clubs and other facilities.

“The safety of our workforce and customers has always been our number one concern throughout the pandemic, which is why we implemented bio-fogging for the first time earlier this year.
“But with coronavirus concerns growing once more we felt that it was important that we respond positively and proactively so we have decided to repeat the bio-fogging process once more across our depots and head office.
“We want to do everything we can to not only protect our workforce and customers, but to help drive down coronavirus cases and care for our NHS.
“Deep cleaning is a sensible plan for all businesses. I would encourage all wholesale and retail groups to carry out this procedure.”

UWS customer Naveed Amjed of retailer Day-Today Elite in Airdrie, welcomed the move.
