Leading fine food brand owner, importer and distributor RH Amar has been appointed by Klinge Foods Ltd. to distribute its product LoSalt® across wholesale, impulse, convenience and online channels aiming to grow the brand’s presence as the authority on salt health.
An iconic UK heritage brand, LoSalt® is the UK’s leading reduced sodium salt brand loved by consumers since 1984. Made from a blend of two natural mineral salts (potassium chloride and sodium chloride), it offers a great-tasting way to season, cook and bake with 66% less sodium. It is produced in East Kilbride, Scotland and remains under family ownership after being founded by brothers Stephen and Michael Klinge more than four decades ago.
The relevance for UK consumers to switch to the healthier alternative to salt has never been greater with the World Heart Federation highlighting that decreasing dietary sodium and increasing dietary potassium are important intervention strategies for the prevention and management of hypertension.
Justin Burbage, Commercial Director, RH Amar said: ‘We’re excited to be adding LoSalt to the RH Amar portfolio of brands and believe that with our channel expertise and reach we can open up new opportunities to drive sales and further build the brand’s presence in the market.’
Caroline Klinge, Marketing Director for LoSalt® adds: “We are delighted to now be working with RH Amar, a family company very much aligned with us in terms of operations and vision. Their passion and expertise will allow us to widely build our LoSalt® distribution and reach more consumers looking to take control of their salt consumption and so expand our highly relevant Season with Sense message to the UK public.’
LoSalt joins RH Amar’s growing portfolio of over 40 ambient food brands, which includes Crespo, Del Monte, Kikkoman and Mutti alongside RH Amar-owned brands Cooks&Co, Camp Coffee, Mary Berry’s and The Original Waffle Co. In October, RH Amar also announced a new partnership deal with Dr. Oetker Home Baking to extend the baking brand’s reach into the UK independent and speciality channels.
