Ginsters of Cornwall took home a staggering five awards at the 12th British Pie Awards, an annual event which champions Britain’s best pie makers and baking talent.

The Ginsters Vegan Quorn Pasty – created in partnership with the UK’s number one meat-free pioneer, Quorn – led the way by scooping Highly Commended and Gold in the Vegan Pie class. The Ginsters vegan-friendly Moroccan Vegetable Pasty also landed a second consecutive Gold win.

To complete the achievements, Silver gongs were awarded to the Ginsters Handcrafted Cornish Pasty and the Cornish Handcrafted Chicken, Chorizo & Cornish Gouda Pasty which were developed in collaboration with Chris Eden – the first chef born and raised in Cornwall to earn a Michelin star.

Held in Melton Mowbray – the Rural Capital of Food – on Friday 6th March, the British Pie Awards are judged by 110 experts and shine the spotlight on protected regional specialities, while championing British produce and craftmanship.

Commenting on the accolades, Managing Director Kieran Hemsworth, said: “We’re passionate about celebrating and protecting the heritage of one of Cornwall’s most-loved exports while creating innovative new recipes such as our Ginsters Vegan Quorn Pasty. It has won legions of fans since launching last year and to get the seal of approval from such expert judges is a proud moment for us – it shows that you don’t have to miss out on your favourite food to enjoy vegetarian or flexitarian diets.

“To be awarded Highly Commended in these awards is an incredible reflection of the craftmanship and expertise of our chefs. To receive five accolades is a real honour – our packaging will display the coveted logos with pride!”

Ginsters’ success in the 2020 British Pie Awards tops last year’s impressive quadruple win. The pasty maker accumulated a total of eight accolades during 2019, including Gold and Commended in the 2019 Taste of the West Awards and Finalist in The Grocer’s New Product Awards 2019.
