Walkers has announced that it will be launching its community fund competition for the second year running. Following last year’s success, this year’s competition will see ten lucky retailers have the opportunity to win £2,000 each to support their local neighbourhood, recognising the pivotal role that convenience stores play within their communities.

To enter, retailers must simply purchase two cases of any 48g-82g £1.25 RRP price-marked-pack (PMP) or Kurkure 80g £1.00 RRP PMP range of qualifying products between Monday 20th February to Wednesday 5th April*.

Mike Chapman, Head of Wholesale at PepsiCo said: “Convenience stores have always played an important role within their local communities but never has this been more the case than during the last few years.  We know that 73% of independent retailers have engaged in some form of community activity in the past year[1] alone and we expect this to continue.  With this competition, we hope to help retailers give back to their communities with a significant prize up for grabs”.

Chapman continues: “Sharing RRP PMPs account for 49.1% of crisps and snacks value sales within the crisps, snacks and nuts segment[2], and represent an important driver of savoury snacking sales within the convenience channel. By focusing the competition on RRP price marked packs, we’re helping retailers to drive their snacking sales further”.

John Wilson from The Corner Shop, Cellardyke, Scotland, was one of the ten lucky winners from last year’s community competition. John used the money to restore the local tidal pool which brought the community together and helped provide a safe place for people of all ages and abilities to swim.
