A children’s charity, launched by total supply chain solutions provider Oakland International, provided much needed funding for a group of young football players to attend a tournament in Skegness.

The charity, Oakland Foundation, aims to ensure all children, and particularly those living in poverty or who are underprivileged and irrespective of social background or physical ability, can participate equally. The Foundation offers support, for children under the age of 16 and their families, through initiatives based around education, health and nutrition, and sport.

The players from Rothwell & Desborough FC Aztec under 10 Warriors team were thrilled to be granted Oakland Foundation funding.

Oakland Foundation Donations Coordinator Debbie Roberts said: “This grassroots organisation provides football for children in the local and surrounding area with teams from under 5’s to under 18’s.

“There are mixed gender teams and all mixed gender teams from under 7’s and they’re all entered into the Weetabix Youth league. Clearly the children in the photo have had their Weetabix!”

The children, supported by their families, had been fundraising for the tournament and together with the funding received through Oakland Foundation ensured they could attend the ESF tournament.
